J.R. YOUNG

AnimA et Forma

What right does a man have to his brother’s kingdom? None. Yet, as corruption seeps into the heart of the realm, and King Erwin IV maintains his family’s war against the Fergonians of the east, the realm wages secret wars against itself. The King’s Council, the Holy Order, the nobility, and the guilds of the city squabble for power, trampling the peasants and the poor in their wake. Who’s left to safeguard the people of the realm? And why should the responsibility fall upon a bastard? Ardwin’s heritage only ever brought strife and isolation. Even those who know him must pretend he doesn’t exist.

What gives a bastardized realm the right to claim a man’s life?

Born into an orphanage, then taken by holy men and trained to be their weapon, Ardwin always had to fight for his place in the world. With the help of the Court Mage, Alatar, and a few magical trinkets, he won his freedom. Now, four years after his excommunication from the Holy Order, Ardwin is forced to confront the shadows of his past and embark upon a quest to claim a life of his own.

I'm a Writer...

What got me started?

After playing music for a few years, I grew tired of relying on other musicians to show up on time, give their best enthusiastic effort, and keep their egos in check. I needed a creative outlet outside of music, where I didn't rely on anyone but myself. Oh, if I had only known what it really meant to be a writer. To be a writer means working with editors, agents, publishers, and trustworthy (or not so trustworthy) sources of information. Writing is a collaborative effort, between the writer and a community of people who help the writer hone and harness their true potential. And, most importantly, it is a collaborative effort consisting of an author and their readers.

What now?

I created this website as a collaborative endeavor, where I can share my work, and updates on my work, with you, dear reader. On this website, you will find links to my entire Library of fictional work. As well, you will find my Blog, where I address productivity updates, offer short lessons to strengthen your own writing, and discuss various topics in the world of fiction and literature.

Thanks for reading! If you would like to learn more about me, you can visit my social media links, or read my first Blog post. If you'd rather read something more interesting, check out my Library!
